Kortrijk, Belgium, 1 April 2009 – Barco, a leader in display and visualization solutions for selected professional markets, has been selected by EADS Defence & Security (DS), Ulm, Germany, for the delivery of visualization hardware and software components to be integrated into new radar systems of the German Air Force. The contract fits into a comprehensive program including the upgrade of 22 radar systems for military airfields all over Germany by 2015. For Barco, the contract holds a total value of almost 14 million Euro.

GDC and Barco announce digital cinema deployment contracts with two major Chinese exhibitors

ShoWest, Las Vegas (April 1, 2009) – GDC Technology (“GDC”), a world leading digital cinema solution provider and Barco, a global market leader in professional visualization, are pleased to announce digital cinema deployment contracts with Hengdian Entertainment Co., Ltd (“Hengdian”) and Jinyi Zhujiang Movie Circuit Co., Ltd (“Jinyi”). Hengdian is China's thirteenth largest exhibitor, while Jinyi is the nation's sixth largest exhibitor (according to 2007 published box office collection). In total GDC and Barco will equip 120 theaters with digital projection. Jinyi already began deploying Barco technology in the course of February 2009, with all systems to be installed in the next 18 months, whereas deployment for for Hengdian is slated to start in April 2009. The DCI-2000 Digital Cinema Integrated Projection System, which consists of GDC's SA-2100 Digital Cinema Server and Barco's DLP Cinema® Projector, will be adopted for both installations. Together GDC and Barco have already deployed more than 700 digital cinema projection systems.
