Barco receives multi-million euro order from Norwegian Kongsberg for air defense systems
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, February 4, 2004 – Barco has been awarded a multi-million euro contract by Kongsberg Defence and Aerospace AS, Kongsberg, Norway, for the delivery of 180 RFD251/II Rugged Displays. The state-of-the-art flat panel displays will be used to display tactical air defense information within the framework of air defense systems for NATO countries. Kongsberg’s choice shows that Barco’s RFD251/II has become the preferred visualization solution for harsh environments worldwide.
Barco’s rugged displays will be integrated into NASAMS and HAWK air defense programs. They will be used for operational decision making in ground based command and control shelters. The RFD251/II is a bright 20.1” liquid crystal display with a resolution of 1280x1024. Kongsberg especially valued the RFD251/II’s rack-mountable architecture and its custom-made touch screen functionality, tailored to the needs of this specific application. Furthermore, the RFD251/II displays feature a protective HumiSeal coating, ensuring enhanced protection of the internal electronics against severe environmental conditions.Kongsberg has received a first delivery of four units at the end of last year. Deliveries will continue until mid 2005.
