Barco LED solution selected for famous Toronto Eaton Centre

Toronto, Ontario – Barco announced today it has been awarded the contract to supply and install 1,011 square feet of its revolutionary SLite 10 LED outdoor display solution at the renowned Toronto Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. The third largest mall in Canada, the Toronto Eaton Centre is home to over 250 retail shops and offices. The facility is also one of Toronto’s most popular tourist sites, attracting approximately one million customers per week. The colossal retail site is owned and operated by The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited.

Currently, the north end of the property, at Yonge and Dundas Streets, is undergoing progressive renovations, including the installation of a Media Tower, which includes two TriVision displays, one set of scrolling signs and a spectacular 40’ x 30’ Barco SLite 10 LED display. Once installed, the Media Tower will host three major advertisers, allowing them tremendous exposure to the traffic of Dundas Square. Throughout a 24-hour period, each of three core advertisers will own approximately 35 minutes of time during three-hour increments of the entire platform, creating dominant advertising over the Square. The remaining time will be made available to additional advertisers through the flexibility of the Barco SLite 10 solution.

“The installation of this media tower is an integral part of the redevelopment work being done,” notes John Sullivan, Senior Vice President of Office Development, Cadillac Fairview. “We were determined to do something fresh and unique, fitting the stature of the Toronto Eaton Centre as Canada’s pre-eminent shopping destination.”

“Barco is absolutely ecstatic to have a state-of-the-art display in the center of one of Canada’s most famous landmarks,” said Tom Ray, Executive VP of Barco, Inc. in America. “We have experienced substantial growth in the digital signage market and we are fortunate to be asked to supply our product solutions for very high-profile customers, such as Cadillac Fairview, and for notable sites, such as the Toronto Eaton Centre.”

“The Toronto Eaton Centre is the Times Square of Canada, and we are thrilled to be a part of this compelling display of digital signage,” stated Steve Simard, Market Manager, Barco Media, “Additionally, we are honored to have worked with eminent developer Cadillac Fairview, whose state-of-the-art facilities are a result of cutting-edge ideas, with an understanding of the desires of retail shoppers. We look forward to many future endeavors with the Cadillac Fairview Corporation.”
