Barco sets up dedicated regional service center for the Russian aviation industry
PARIS AIR SHOW, Le Bourget, Paris, France, 13 June 2005 – To further improve its service offering to the Russian aviation industry, Barco’s Avionics division has established a regional service center in Zhukovsky, Russia. The new center, housed in the headquarters of the Scientific Research Institute of Aircraft Equipment (NIIAO), will allow Barco to significantly reduce turnaround times of its avionics units used aboard Russian aircraft. Opening a dedicated service center in Russia is a new step in Barco’s philosophy of providing high-quality service and support worldwide and close to the customer.
“Barco’s Avionics division has been providing the Russian aviation industry with high-grade avionics display units for many years. Now that our Russian service center is fully operational, we can also offer our customers first-class service and support, tailored to their needs and performed by local people who speak their language”, explains Guy Putman, General Manager Barco Avionics.The new intermediate service center in Zhukovsky, near Moscow, has been set up in close cooperation with NIIAO, Russia’s Scientific Research Institute of Aircraft Equipment. It employs four highly trained Service Technicians. All of them are fully certified to do fault detection, swap replacement of line replaceable units, testing and certification of Barco’s high-grade Multi-Function Displays and Control Display Units. Currently, these units are being used aboard a variety of Russian fixed and rotary wing applications, including Tupolev, Ilyushin, Beriev and Kamov.
