After the Opera had seen Barco in action at another theater, they were enthusiastic about the projector’s ease of use, silence and outstanding image quality. As such, Barco installed three of its three-chip DLP SLM R12+ projectors in its theaters. The SLM boasts a light output of 12,000 ANSI lumens, and has a long-standing track record of reliability due to its easy serviceability and solid, unwavering lens holder.
In addition, the Opera also replaced its big spotlight with the extremely bright projection of a three-chip DLP FLM R20+ unit in a rear, ceiling-mounted setup. The FLM has a dazzling 20,000 lumens light output bright enough to project clearly even in luminous environments, and possesses a liquid-cooled, sealed optical engine that not only reduces noise levels, but also prevents dust from entering the projector. This strongly increases the projector’s lifetime, and also reduces the FLM’s servicing needs drastically.
Together, the SLM and FLM projectors light up the stage in, crisp vivid colors and with moving images, in ways more dynamic than classic lighting could have ever achieved.
