X2O software platform helps municipalities keep a close eye on hosting services
The X2O collaboration platform that Barco acquired in 2014 is increasingly being integrated into the entire Barco product suite, in order to boost collaboration, information sharing and interaction. Third parties, too, are eager to use the platform as a basis for their solutions. Digital signage expert Centomedia, for example, was the very first Belgian company to integrate the X2O platform into a dedicated communication solution.
Monitoring all hosting services
“Our customer Cipal provides municipalities and other public authorities with ICT solutions,” explains Luc Van Lommel, account manager and partner at Centomedia. “For some time now, Cipal has also been offering hosting services: the customers/municipalities working with Cipal can have their data and applications managed/stored at servers located in the Cipal datacenter. When Cipal opened its new Ci-Cloud datacenter in 2015, it decided to provide its customers with a solution to monitor the hosting services.” Centomedia developed a dashboard where the municipality’s Mayor and/or IT team have an overview of certain server parameters, such as the status of the server, the temperature in the server room, etc. Users can choose to visualize the data on a video wall, an LCD screen but just as well a mobile device.
Visually compelling content on any screen
As a preferred partner for Barco’s X2O software platform, Centomedia was happy to use X2O as basis for this new solution. “With its ability to integrate and display real-time data from practically any source, as well as live HD video feeds, social media content and images, the X2O platform can display visuals to video walls, digital displays, tablets and cellphones. The software delivers the highest quality video and graphics output, while providing users with the easiest-to-use, browser-based content management tools,” Van Lommel explained. “It was just what we needed to develop the new dashboard for Cipal.”
