At the CeBIT tradeshow, taking place this week in Hannover, Barco partner Fraunhofer IOSB present their Smart Control Room concept, using a 3x2 Barco OV-515 overview wall.
The Smart Control Room is equipped with a large rear-projection video wall, video cameras and microphones. The overview video wall is the ideal visualization technology to gather all incoming information from its associated operations centers. It is controlled by gestures and voice recognition and as such, it allows multiple users to work with video walls without mouse or touch interface.

The video wall can show all kinds of information, such as land and road maps, current positions of forces, infrared images or videos. One of the features of the Smart Control Room shown at CeBIT is that everyone move around in the room freely, while “their” information moves along with them on the video wall. This is made possible through a face identification and tracking system on the video cameras. So, at any time, everyone has the correct information close to them, regardless of where they are in the room.
The Smart Control Room at Fraunhofer IOSB is currently being tested and evaluated for crisis response of fire brigades, police departments, medical services, technical relief, and security companies.
