3D design with Barco in the lead

In the most recent publications of Eureka News and the ITEA 2 Magazine, Barco's Andy De Mets was interviewed on the 3D-TESTBENCH project. The project, which was a collaboration effort of several companies, developed a platform that allows "all participants to visualise and validate a complete development or part of a development" - in other words, a platform that provides a fully integrated design experience.

About the 3D-TESTBENCH, Eureka says: "The outcome of 3D TESTBENCH looks like a giant 3D screen or ‘wall’ where all the stages of the engineering and product conception process are displayed. Change one aspect of the project and the ramifications at all of its stages will show, highlighting potential conflicts."

Other partners on the project included the Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Fokker Elmo, NOESIS Solutions and TU Delft. Andy De Mets, who lead the project team, said: "The complementary expertise and enthusiasm of the human team-force that was brought together was a crucial aspect for the success of the project."
