Iceland’s iconic concert hall and conference center deserves the best-quality projection

Harpa Iceland
Over 500,000 guests and an impressive cast of celebrated musicians and cultural icons have visited Harpa, Iceland’s iconic concert hall and conference center, since its opening in May 2011. All of them were impressed by the center’s fantastic location, architecture and state-of-the-art facilities. Long-term Barco distributor Exton equipped the halls with the best audiovisual equipment available, including seven Barco projectors.

Iceland’s leading AV rental company Exton was involved in the ambitious Harpa project from the very beginning, many years ago. Whilst the Harpa project team was very enthusiastic about Barco’s LED-lit solutions, they had to put the project on hold for a while due to Iceland’s economic crisis. At the start of 2011 came the green light: Exton was invited to install Barco projectors in three large halls and the conference room.

The AV expert chose to install different projectors for the different halls. “Of course, it’s easy to always sell your first-class – and most expensive – projector. But that’s not how we work. Just like Barco, we use the solutions that best fit our clients’ needs,” said Exton’s Kristjan Magnusson. In the classical concert hall, his team set up an FLM-HD20 front projector and another FLM-HD20 for theater events, while the smaller halls feature RLM-W8 projectors.

“Barco delivered everything right on time, the installation went smoothly and, so far, everything has worked faultlessly. The Barco projectors ensure the best possible backdrop to any show, classical or pop concert or conference that Iceland’s cultural palace is now hosting,” Magnusson concluded.
