Celebrating 40 years of Film Fest Gent

The Belgian city of Ghent will be the Mecca for film and music fans, the coming days, as the 40th edition of Film Fest Gent kicks off tonight. Until 19 October, film lovers will be treated to exclusive screenings of movies and short films, great concerts, a spectacular retrospective on Martin Scorsese, debates and parties at various venues across Ghent. Just like in previous years, Barco is a proud Film Fest sponsor and partner.

Preferred visualization partner

Film Fest Gent and Barco have a long tradition of working together. As an event sponsor, we have provided a series of Barco products to ensure first-class visualization for this year’s film festival too. While the entrance hall of the Kinepolis multiplex cinema features a big LiveDots C8 LED display, a series of FLM-HD20 and RLM-W6 projectors and a dP2K-32B digital cinema projector will be used at different Film Fest venues. On top of that, Barco company dzine has delivered a solution to facilitate an interactive voting session at the Kinepolis.

12 days of film mania

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, Film Fest Gent is one of Europe’s major film events. More than presenting a broad array of international films, the festival is renowned throughout Europe for its unique focus on film music. Alongside the 13th World Soundtrack Awards and a concert based on the music from the films of Scorsese, this year’s edition also presents a unique anniversary concert. The Film Fest Gent opens this Tuesday 8 October with dramatic thriller ‘The Fifth Estate’ by Bill Condon. Other highlights of the 2013 edition include a focus on American independent cinema and a large-scale Martin Scorsese exhibition.
