Why early breast cancer detection requires Barco technology

Each year, around 1,000,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. To drive early detection of the disease, professor of Radiology László Tabár M.D. created an award-winning, hands-on, digital mammography screening course which he teaches all over the world. The technology he relies on is from Barco: Prof. Tabár praises Barco’s mammography displays for the high contrast ratio and uniform images they bring.

 

Breast cancer is hard to diagnose early because the tissue changes are uncharacteristic and very subtle. “Keeping this subtlety in mind, radiologists have to be able to read mammography findings in the most efficient and clearest way,” says professor László Tabár. “During the course participants progressively improve their skills in detecting early phase breast cancer, as they learn the full spectrum of normal and abnormal breast images. All findings are explained with the help of 3D histology images.”
