Barco is everywhere – even during your holidays!

in Air traffic control & management

It’s that time of the year again, when many of us are counting down to a break. What are your plans? Climb a mountain? Conquer some waves? Sniff up some culture? Or just relax? Whatever you do, chances are that you’ll come across ‘a bit of Barco’!

On the road, in hotels, restaurants, museums, sports events or festivals: we’re everywhere. The ‘omnipresence’ of Barco inspired us to take you on a summer journey to places and events where our worlds meet. We kick off the Barco summer series where your holidays probably start: on the road or in the air(port).

On the road
Whether you’ve planned a beach holiday in the south of France or Spain, a mountain vacation in the French/Italian Alps or Austria or a trip to Brazil or the US, Barco is always watching you en route to your holiday destination.

A few examples? Traffic control operators at the ASF Védène center near Avignon monitor France’s biggest and busiest motorway network on a Barco OVL-715 LED wall, including a TransForm ECU 110 controller and Barco’s Control Management Suite (CMS). The control centers situated either side of the Mont Blanc Tunnel in France and Italy feature Barco equipment to ensure that incidents are detected within seconds. In addition, our networked visualization solutions help traffic operators in Austria, Germany, Spainthe NetherlandsBrazil and the USA, respond more effectively during incidents … to keep you moving safely.

… and in the air
Planning to fly to your holiday destination? Then you might be interested to know that 20,000 air traffic controllers, around the world, rely on Barco every day!

Barco’s ISIS displays are part of the Air Traffic Control system used at the Ciampino airport, near Rome, the Air Traffic Control Center at Ljubliana airport and in many Brazilian airports. Our OSYRIS Arrival MANager (AMAN) helps improve arrival operations in, for example, Oslo and Hong Kong airports. And a large Barco video wall forms the centerpiece of the control center at Madrid-Barajas, Spain's largest and busiest airport.

Have a safe summer trip and … do let us know when you encounter Barco on your holiday journey in the comments section below this post. By the way: don’t miss next Friday’s Barco summer post.
