Investments in Virtual Reality (VR) are soaring but is every company really aware of what 3D technology, VR and augmented reality can do to drive its business forward? French VR expert Immersion invited mid-sized companies and SMEs to its it3D event in Aérocampus (France), last week to discover the power of immersive and collaborative 3D technologies. Barco was happy to participate in the event as a technology partner!
Enabling true immersion and collaboration
Raise awareness, inform and convince ‘non expert’ companies of the immersive and collaborative uses of 3D solutions: that was the main goal of this year’s it3D event. A slightly different angle from previous years, when id3D was more of a seminar, where experts came together to discuss VR trends and developments. Barco was there to show how its solutions can help generate true immersion and collaboration. This year’s exhibition area featured a Barco booth and several of our VR partners were also showcasing Barco solutions. Products on show included our F50 projector with ultra-short throw lens, our RLM-W14 VR projector, the OL-series of LED-lit video walls, the LED-backlit LDX LCD displays, and our X2O channels and ClickShare.
Innovation for the future of VR and Collaboration
Besides hosting the exhibit space, the id3D event had also scheduled a large number of workshops, presentations and demos and offers cutting-edge start-ups a platform to present their solutions in the Innovation Area. In addition, the it3D event hosted nine round tables on specific 3D-related themes. Barco contributed to the round table on ‘‘Innovation for the future of VR and Collaboration, from an industry, academic and user point of view’’ with Birgit Schulze-Berktold and Eric Braux, highlighting how Barco is a true frontrunner in those technologies.
Did you know that Immersion also publishes a magazine: it3D magazine? The fall 2015 edition includes quite some information on Barco’s VR-related solutions. Feel free to download it!
