Barco announces clinical performance webinars, innovative medical display products to be unveiled at RSNA 2011
Duluth, Ga., USA – 22 November 2011 – Visualization and medical imaging pioneer Barco announced today the debut of a new “Clinical Performance That Matters” webinar series and offered a glimpse of new products to be presented at this year's Radiology Society of North America (RSNA) conference.
The first webinar, entitled “Clinical Performance That Matters with Medical Displays and Image Quality,”
was presented by David Hirschorn, MD, Director of Radiology Informatics at Staten Island University Hospital and Researcher in Radiology Informatics at Massachusetts General Hospital, and Lynda Domogalla, Vice President, Product Marketing for Barco Healthcare. Dr. Hirschorn and Domogalla discuss the role of proper luminance for various modalities and the correlation among ambient light, luminance and accurate reading, in addition to the importance of centralized QA and automated DICOM calibration.
“We're excited to partner with Dr. Hirschorn in an effort to illuminate the critical factors that boost clinical performance in all the ways that matter: diagnostic accuracy, faster decision-making, increased workflow efficiency and radiologist comfort,” commented Domogalla.
Hosted by Health Imaging, the on-demand webinar is available now at www.healthimaging.com/index.php?option=com_webcasts&task=view&id=24.
At RSNA 2011, Barco will also present its new Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP
for digital breast imaging, the most advanced medical display in the world. Now commercially available, the Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP features groundbreaking imaging technologies to support breast cancer detection. Featuring twice the brightness, minimal screen noise and rapid cineing of images without motion blur, the Mammo Tomosynthesis 5MP increases conspicuity of the smallest details to provide radiologists with a higher level of diagnostic accuracy. On-demand ultra-illumination and a built-in lightbox further enhance visibility.
The Coronis Fusion family will also be on display, featuring Barco's flagship Coronis Fusion 6MP DL
– the world's only 30-inch widescreen color LCD monitor that can be used as two 3 MegaPixel heads or a single, seamless 6 MegaPixel display. Offering radiologists the freedom to organize their workspace to their preference, the Coronis 6MP can display up to 40 CT MR images or a side-by-side chest X-ray comparison, depicting grayscale and color simultaneously at the same high resolution. The Coronis Fusion 10MP
offers a premier level of grayscale image resolution with additional technology innovations such as Barco's proprietary “SmoothGray” feature which meticulously renders a pristine grayscale curve. “Uniform Luminance Technology” ensures consistent brightness across the entire screen. And, with exceptionally high contrast, the darkest blacks and perfect geometry, the Coronis Fusion 10MP reveals the subtlest abnormalities to ensure a confident diagnosis.
Maximizing uptime of PACS displays in hundreds of hospitals is Barco's MediCal QAWeb
, the industry's only completely online, automated Quality Assurance and auto-calibration service for medical grade displays. This all-inclusive, intervention-free service ensures 24/7 DICOM compliance of medical displays and maintains consistent luminance to enhance diagnostic confidence. Offering centralized control of all displays across the enterprise, MediCal QAWeb provides fast issue identification and automated corrective actions to ensure maximum availability. Asset management capabilities enhance budget control with comprehensive display analysis and reporting. At RSNA, Barco will demonstrate how these centralized control capabilities have been extended to our MDRC family of clinical displays. Barco will also highlight a new Visual Confidence Test built-into QAWeb. The Visual Confidence Test enables individual readers to run their own QA test on displays in less than one minute to verify that they meet their quality expectations.
Barco will be exhibiting at RSNA 2011 in the North Building, Hall B, Booth #8313
from November 27-December 1, 2011.
