Advanced Integrated Recorders, Inc. (AIR) Utilizes BARCO’S Graphics Controller For New AIR2000 System

WASHINGTON, DC, September 29, 199 -- BARCO Display Systems (Tucker, GA) today announced a joint marketing agreement with Advanced Integrated Recorders, Inc., (AIR), a subsidiary of Formation, Inc., (Moorestown, NJ) at the 1997 Air Traffic Control Association Conference in Washington, DC. AIR will integrate the BARCO PCI 4700 graphics controller with BARCO’s unique X-Windows software extension into the new AIR2000 record and replay data system, providing a true integrated commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) ATC recording and playback solution.
The AIR2000 system synchronously records, plays back, archives and restores various types of air traffic control information such as voice, radar and workstation screens, and also TCP/IP socket (LAN) data.

BARCO provides added value to the AIR2000 system by supplying a software-based recording system which functions like a video recorder by digitally recording the drawing commands used to produce the information on a monitor screen. This digital recording technique is found in the BARCO X-Windows extension software. This software extension accurately records ATC information protocol sent to the system’s X-server and also records the X-server state. This important capability of the AIR2000 system allows ATC data to be time-stamped as it is recorded, and is immediately available for playback.
