Barco achieving unprecedented success in Canada
Toronto, Canada, February 11, 2004 – Barco is pleased to announce its newly opened Canadian subsidiary is realizing tremendous acceptance and numerous contract wins in the digital signage, broadcast, government, defense and corporate markets. Barco launched its new subsidiary on January 14, 2004, following key appointments in sales, marketing, and service for the Canadian market. Prior to the subsidiary’s opening, Barco had been experiencing rapid growth in Canada’s media and entertainment, control room, medical imaging, and aerospace markets with its established channel customers and dealer network.

Barco Canada has recently been awarded key digital signage contracts with Outdoor Broadcast Network (OBN) and The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited. Barco was selected as the supplier of choice for digital signage LED display advertising solutions to OBN, operator of unique multi-media advertising venues and currently developing a national network of full-motion, outdoor video boards in major urban areas across Canada. In addition, The Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited, one of North America's largest investors, owners and managers of commercial real estate, awarded Barco Canada the contract to supply and install 1,011 square feet of its revolutionary SLite 10 LED outdoor display solution at the renowned Toronto Eaton Centre in downtown Toronto. Barco’s LED solution will be part of a dynamic Media Tower, which will contain digital and static advertising.
In addition, the Canadian subsidiary announced seven new strategic partnerships with recognized A/V dealers, strategically located throughout Canada, to expand their market presence in the corporate, government, and higher-education markets. Barco Canada’s prestigious A/V dealer base now includes: Sono Video, Dynamix, Solotech, Adcom, Sharp’s Audio Visual, Matrix Video Communications, and Matrix Professional Video Systems. Barco also signed a strategic partnership with MICAN, specializing in turn-key solutions for the control room markets. With its expanded dealer network in Canada, Barco is able to effectively manage the significant demand for its state-of-the-art display solutions.
Barco has implemented a new financing program for Barco dealers and direct sales professionals in Canada, through Onset Capital Corporation. Onset will provide Barco Canada’s customers with sales, credit and administration staff support in 10 major centers throughout Canada. The agreement is specifically designed to allow Barco dealers and direct sales customers leasing and credit options through Onset’s variety of business financing options. The agreement allows Barco Canada dealers and direct sales customers to develop customized lease programs to purchase Barco projection and display equipment, including LED displays, DLP Cinema™ , and LCD and DLP™ projection.
Barco Canada has also signed substantial contract wins for the broadcast, surveillance, air traffic control, and defense markets. Barco plans to announce the project awards during the next several weeks.
