Barco and AVEVA to offer portable project review environment to the process and power industries
Barco, the imaging technology specialist, today announces a marketing alliance with AVEVA (LSE: AVV), the leading supplier of engineering IT systems for the offshore, process and energy industries. The new alliance will allow AVEVA customers, using its Review product for high-end rendered visualisation on large 3D models, to benefit from preferential rates on Barco TRACE™ visual display units.
AVEVA, in the 1990s, was first to develop use of visual engineering centres. However, although the value of large-scale, group visualisation was appreciated, technology at the time dictated that installations were fixed and expensive and largely prohibitive to most engineering companies.
Today, users of AVEVA's VANTAGE Plant Design Review solution can take full advantage of Barco TRACETM, an affordable portable visual display unit that can be used in well-lit rooms with active 3D stereo display. The TRACE unit is scalable, enabling multiple applications to be displayed with bright image.
The visual display unit from Barco is also well suited to AVEVA’s VNET web-enabled collaboration and integration solutions that will help bring information together for globally dispersed project offices. The alliance will enable both companies to demonstrate their respective products at key industry events.
Paul Daynes, Marketing Manager, Global Sales and Services commented: "Throughout its history AVEVA has been at the forefront of high-end visualisation for the process and power market. Through alliances like this one with Barco, we will once again set new standards in enabling effective engineering project reviews at a cost that engineering companies will find attractive."
Darrel Fanquy, Market Development Manager, at Barco Simulation, commented: "With portability and bright image display at the top of our design criteria, we are confident that the TRACE unit, with AVEVA products, will deliver a very attractive proposition when compared with fixed and expensive environments.

About PDMSTM
VANTAGE Plant Design Management System (PDMS) is a data centric, multi-disciplinary solution for 3D process plant design featuring applications and reference data for every engineering discipline. It differs from conventional 3D approaches by not requiring a drawing engine, but producing graphics directly from a single, coherent data model of the entire plant. First launched in 1976, PDMS's architecture was designed to evolve: it has done so through many leading operating systems during the progress of the IT industry. The system offers compatibility with all previous versions and many other leading industry systems.
