Barco and BMTech reach agreement on the sale of the mechanical unit of the former Manufacturing Services division of Barco
Kortrijk, 20 December 2007. Barco announces that an agreement has been reached with BMTech on the sale of its mechanical subcontracting unit. This unit was the last part of the former Manufacturing Services division of Barco, after the electronic manufacturing and the print activities had been sold in December of 2006. The transfer to BMTech will become effective on 1 January, 2008 and will have a marginal impact on the results of Barco.
The mechanical subcontracting unit has manufacturing sites in Belgium (Kortrijk) and the Czech Republic (Kladno) and employs close to 170 people. All employees will be transferred to BMTech. The Belgian factory and land are part of the sale, whereas the Czech factory is not included in the deal.
With the sale of the mechanical unit, which was subcontracting for the greater part for the other Barco divisions, the divestment of the former Barco Manufacturing Services division is now complete.
