Barco and shareholdership Elprinta reach agreement about the sale of the Prints activity of the division Barco Manufacturing Services

Kortrijk, 22 August, 2006. Barco and shareholdership Elprinta have reached an agreement about the acquisition of the Prints activity of the division Barco Manufacturing Services. Barco had announced earlier that it wanted to sell this division. The legal settlement of the acquisition will take up a couple of months so that the sale will be concluded by the end of the year.

57 of the 80 employees will be part of the acquisition. Solutions have been worked out for the larger part of the remaining employees, such as early retirement and mutation to another division within Barco. No solution has been found yet for a limited number of employees. Manufacturing will be continued in the facility in Poperinge. For the time being, no further details about the acquisition will be made public as the final discussions have not been finalized yet.
The Prints activity of the division Barco Manufacturing Services, with a facility in Poperinge, is specialized in manufacturing high-end printed circuit boards for prototypes and smaller series. Single-sided, double-sided and multilayer printed circuit boards are produced that are destined for various industrial markets. Besides supplying the other Barco divisions with printed circuit boards, the Prints activity also serves the external market.

Elprinta, with headquarters in Moeskroen, Belgium, has been active in the same market as the Prints activity of Barco Manufacturing Services for more than 30 years and supplies small to medium-sized series to e.g. the industrial, automotive and consumer markets.

Thanks to the high complementarity of both companies, the acquisition of the Prints activity offers Elprinta the possibility to extend its offer in capacity as well as in technical specifications.
Besides the manufacturing of small and medium-sized series, the services for prototypes will also be extended and optimized and a larger portfolio of technical possibilities will be available. This larger portfolio and the continued investments will enable Elprinta to address an important part of the Belgian market.
