Barco, eNGENUITY Technologies, Alt Software, Dy 4 Systems, and Green Hills Software Announce “On the Road to Certification” Road Show

Montreal (Canada) - September 22nd , 2003 - Barco, eNGENUITY Technologies, Alt Software, Dy 4 Systems and Green Hills Software today announced plans to host several technology seminars across North America and Europe to present and demonstrate complete solutions for DO-178B Certification in the Aerospace and Defense Industries. The road show includes eight stops, including four locations across the US, two in France, one in Germany and one in the United Kingdom, with dates scheduled between October 13-31, 2003.

The road show aims to address the multiple challenges surrounding the certification of mission-critical systems to the DO-178B standard, and to introduce solutions available to this market today that address those challenges. The DO-178B standard (EUROCAE ED-12B in Europe), developed by the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA) for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Joint Aviation Authorities (JAA), defines the software development lifecycle to be used in the development of airborne systems, and the evidence required to demonstrate compliance.

Presentations will cover many important topics surrounding the DO-178B certification process for avionics systems development, including specific solutions for both hardware and software components in this process, and are as follows:

  • Barco will also be present at each of the events to share their experiences as a company having actually certified mission and safety-critical systems, specifically avionics displays using VAPS QCG. Barco will also present their new product, MOSArt, that allows system integrators to develop and certify their own software on a COTS modular avionics platform.
  • eNGENUITY Technologies will present VAPS QCG for DO-178B graphics development for avionics displays, and will highlight several success stories in this area.
  • Dy 4 Systems will be presenting its breakthrough Certifiable Foundation Firmware (CFFW) technology which enables COTS, open architecture embedded computing products to be used in DO-178B safety certifiable applications.
  • Green Hills Software will present how it’s commercially available and deployed INTEGRITY-178B Real-Time-Operating-Systems (RTOS) environment is delivering to customer’s a universal run-time environment with certification packages to Level A, that is capable of executing a variety of avionics and flight control functionality operating at different safety and security levels on a single microprocessor.
  • ALT Software will present a case study of one of their industry-leading clients and the development of DO-178B OpenGL software for Level A certification, and how to deal with challenges such as tool set changes during the development cycle.
