Barco expands its Advanced Visualization offering with new clinical applications for CT colonography and PET-CT fusion

RSNA, Chicago, IL, USA, 27 November 2006 - Medical imaging specialist Barco is further expanding its Advanced Visualization offering with new, dedicated clinical applications for integration into its Voxar 3D suite. At this year’s RSNA, the company will preview two brand-new applications for CT colonography and PET-CT fusion. Earlier this year, Barco also launched user-friendly applications for CT cardiac structural and functional analysis and vessel analysis of CTA and MRA. Characteristic for these clinical applications is that they integrate seamlessly into PACS and are accessible in one click throughout the enterprise on standard PCs. By doing so, Barco clears the way for a truly integrated advanced imaging workflow.
Voxar 3D ColonMetrix for CT colonography

Voxar 3D ColonMetrix is a new, time-efficient clinical application for CT colonography that is fully integrated into the Voxar 3D platform. Developed as a complete virtual colonoscopy workflow and reporting solution, Voxar 3D ColonMetrix allows radiologists to interpret a CT colonography study and generate a report typically within 10 minutes. By doing so, it makes virtual colonoscopy an economically and clinically feasible option.

Voxar 3D ColonMetrix incorporates many advanced visualization tools to supplement traditional 2D methods of review. It combines advanced viewing capabilities, workflow efficiency and integrated reporting, to assist radiologists in locating polyps, tumors and pre-malignant growths in the bowel. Moreover, radiologists can benefit from real-time manipulation of colon image data with accelerated GPU 3D fly-through, integrated CAR and DICOM reporting to rapidly convey patient information to referring physicians throughout the enterprise.

Voxar 3D PET-CT Fusion

Innovations and technological developments are quickly driving the PET market forward as is the development of new clinical applications in the treatment and diagnosis of cancer. With the addition of a new PET-CT Fusion application to its Voxar 3D suite, Barco continues to exceed the industry's PET visualization demands.

Voxar 3D PET-CT Fusion supports the effective interpretation of whole body FDG oncology studies and allows real-time interaction with PET, CT and fused volumes. Radiologists can accurately and efficiently blend PET and CT studies to combine anatomical and functional images, and to calculate and display standard uptake values. The software's intuitive, easy-to-use PET-CT fusion capabilities are seamlessly integrated into Voxar 3D's functionality for enhanced clinical workflow and increased productivity. Powerful automation and visualization tools have been added to make the detection and interpretation of lesions in PET-CT imaging faster and more accurate.

Voxar 3D ColonMetrix and Voxar 3D PET-CT Fusion are currently not available for commercial distribution in the United States.
