Barco illuminates the gospel at Peterborough Community Church
Peterborough, England – Barco, a leading global provider of visual display systems for presentation, continued its tradition of excellence with a high-fidelity projection solution for the Peterborough Community Church. The solution is powered by SLM R12+ 3-chip DLP projectors and includes video mixing and advanced display control. The church opened in September 2006.
Peterborough Community Church takes visual worship to the next level. The 1800 seat auditorium boasts a sophisticated system, featuring a 12.5 x 5.2 meter screen powered by two blended Barco SLM R12 3-chip DLP projectors. These projectors provide smooth transitions from spectacular worship backgrounds to inspiring videos. With 24,000 lumens of pristine light and a wide screen blended image, the congregation benefits from clear sight of the pastor during the sermon, crisply displayed song lyrics, and videos which redefine precision and clarity.
A Barco ENCORE display controller provides source selection, advanced windowing, and seamless switching for usability. The controller augments the creative communication of the gospel with a range of exciting effects.
“Given the size of the sanctuary and the level of ambient light, it was important to have bright projection on the central stage,” said Pete Charlton, Technical Director. “We chose Barco’s SLM projectors because they feature crisp resolution at a high light output and quality soft edge blending. These projectors deliver seamless pictures with excellent color and brightness uniformity from corner to corner on our giant screen. As our video team is comprised of volunteers with varying levels of technical skills, the usability of the Barco ENCORE controller was another important consideration.”
Technicians control servers, computers, advanced A/V equipment and theatrical lighting from one state-of-the-art booth. “The wide array of inputs on the ENCORE system allowed us to connect multiple video sources and the latest generation of digital video and data from computers,” said Mr. Charlton. “Video announcements about church events and activities can be displayed as picture-in-picture, and testimonials can be delivered by way of video, grabbing the people’s attention like never before.”
“The Barco projection system will be a great asset as we convey our message and its impact,” said Dr. David Smith, Senior Pastor. “This system will help us reach our long-term goal of 10,000+ members, affecting this nation and the rest of the world.”
