BARCO Introduces Major Breakthrough in Indoor Display Technology

ILite: the bright, flexible and reliable answer to the increasing demand for high-quality, larger-than-life moving images in indoor environments

BARCO breaks new ground in indoor display technology, introducing its ILite video plate for sheltered high ambient light environments. Three versions are currently available: ILite 6, ILite 8 and ILite 10. Combining the right brightness and optimal image quality with incredible resolution and the highest flexibility, this intelligent LED-based display solution offers new standards in the video and graphics world.

BARCO’s LED-based daylight display solutions have been the preferred solution for several high-profile outdoor installations during the year 2000, including the International Car Show in Detroit, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Cannes, the concert tours of Bon Jovi, Bryan Adams, U2 and several other bands, the live performance of Madonna during the Grammy Awards Ceremony, the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue and the Shamu Stadium at Seaworld in San Antonio, …. Now, BARCO has used its expertise in light emitting diode (LED) technology picture generation to develop a new solution for indoor applications: the ILite.

Based on high-quality LEDs, the ILite guarantees images with brightness over 2,000 Nits, a level, which has never been achieved with any other indoor display technology. The high visual resolution ranging between 6 and 10 mm further improves the image quality, even for an audience standing as short as 9 feet/3 meters or at an angle up to 165° from the surface of the display.

“We are excited by the extremely fast evolution in technology and the tremendous performance of the ILite indoor display solution,” said Julien Blanchez, BARCO Marketing Manager Daylight Display Systems. “This solution delivers the extreme image quality of a video cube without the hotspots, the alignment problems and the sub-par contrast level.”

Barco’s ILite comes with a built-in PC, which not only allows the system to configure itself in whatever shape and size, but also provides for continuous performance during maintenance or service (hot swap). This built-in intelligence enables the user to mix several batches of tiles of various runtime ages without image uniformity degradation or to remotely monitor the system.

The combination of these features with the short setup and dismantling times, the unsurpassed reliability and the low cost of ownership really make the ILite the preferred solution for high demanding indoor applications in rental, staging, digital billboarding and leisure & entertainment.
