Barco introduces Networked Visualization at ITS America 2004

Atlanta, GA - At ITS America 2004, Barco's Control Rooms division introduces the ability for various control centers to leverage their digital solutions in order to fully integrate various traffic management software, allowing them to directly control the visualization. Additionally this allows various traffic control centers to share each other's information and to visualize anything, anywhere. Networked Visualization represents the continuing development that Barco Control Rooms started in 2003 with their integrated Universal Decoder solutions.
At ITS America 2003, Barco introduced the world's first truly integrated end–to-end digital solution for streaming video into the ITS world with the Universal Decoder Card. This solution allows direct digital connections from encoders (in IP format) to the display solutions without having to decode into analog format, and supports multiple vendors and multiple standards of compression seamlessly. This integrated approach saves the control centers significantly on equipment purchases (reduced need for decoders), space, cabling, installation and maintenance labor.

With Networked Visualization, Barco again takes the lead to provide the industry’s first visualization programming tool kit - Barco's Application Programmer's Interface (API) - designed to allow higher level software to fully manage the composition of any view on any display at any time. This operations allow faster response times, and also provide the flexibility to the Department of Transport to maintain a unified operator interface for their operations to save on training times and allow easy employee transfers. In addition, with the Barco Cottus tool kit, the control centers can visualize the active (live) activity of other control centers.
In summary, Networked Visualization tools, by leveraging end-to-end digital solutions, allows traffic management solutions to expand the scope and the automation of their traffic management software solutions to provide traffic centers faster respond times, facilitate information exchange between control centers for better collaboration and decision making, allow uniform operator interfaces saving training costs and providing the flexibility for employee transfer between control centers.
