Barco makes further inroads into dental market
Kortrijk, Belgium, 24 April 2012 – Medical imaging expert Barco is successfully expanding its reach within the dental market. The Center for Dental and Oral Medicine at the University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf, Germany, has selected and recently installed Barco´s MDRC-2124 clinical review displays to ensure they retain the outstanding image quality throughout the imaging chain - from modality to display.
The University Medical Center Hamburg Eppendorf (UKE) is one of Europe´s most advanced hospitals. Performing approximately 13,000 dental radiology examinations per year, its Center for Dental and Oral Medicine was an early advocate of digital dental radiography. It features the most cutting-edge imaging technology, including Cone Beam 3D Tomography - a technology that ensures the best image quality and clinical advantages in pre-implant diagnostics; periodontal defects and in determining the outcome of regenerative surgical procedures. With these 3D imaging applications, medical grade displays are a must to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Dr. Fuhrmann therefore chose to fully equip the Department of Dental and Maxillo-Facial Radiology with 24-inch MDRC-2124 clinical review displays from Barco.
The MDRC-2124 offers DICOM-compliant viewing of clinical data and images, ensuring a high resolution and contrast ratio, outstanding luminance and accurate grayscale representations. The displays are continuously calibrated with Barco's MediCal QAWeb to ensure 24/7 DICOM accuracy and uptime. The wide 24-inch screen further provides a flexible workspace, ideally suited for simultaneous use of multiple images and clinical applications. “In my opinion the most experienced supplier of medical displays worldwide is Barco. The MDRC displays help us to clearly visualize concealed anatomic structures such as the alveolar bone, the extent of interdental and interradicular bone loss, root length, periodontal ligament space and apical changes. This means we can achieve a more accurate dental treatment plan with improved clinical results,” said Dr. Fuhrmann.
“I am delighted that a leading University Hospital such as Hamburg-Eppendorf and a world-renowned dental radiology expert like Dr. Andreas Fuhrmann acknowledge the quality, clinical benefits and return on investment our MDRC clinical review displays can provide to modern dental practices,” said Luc Colle, VP of Sales within EMEA for Barco’s Healthcare Division. “The image quality, precision, accuracy and worry-free maintenance of the displays make them a perfect fit for dental and oral medicine, be it a dental radiology department or dental practice. Dental practitioners and their patients deserve a display solution that provides the best possible image quality for diagnosis or review.”
