BARCO Premieres 20.1” High-Bright Flat Panel Display for Air Traffic Control Tower Applications
MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS, February 23, 1999 -- BARCO Display Systems introduces a 20.1” high-bright color flat panel display targeted for air traffic control tower applications. The new BARCO TCD 251 LCD features a high bright output of up to 686 nits (200 fl). Combined with a dimming factor of 1000:1, the TCD 251 is the first 20.1” flat panel display that will guarantee optimum readability during the difficult dawn, high noon and dusk light levels.
For ease of maintenance, the TCD 251 is packaged with a removable backlight tray. The benefit of this feature is reduced life cycle costs since the backlight tray is a line replaceable unit.
The On-Screen Display (OSD) of the BARCO TCD 251, provides the operator with user-friendly controls. The display can also be remotely controlled via a serial communication link.
A dual-sensor Ambient Light Control (ALC) function automatically optimizes the TCD 251 brightness, depending on the ambient light conditions.
