BARCO Premieres Affordable Multi-Configurable ATC Workstation
MAASTRICHT, HOLLAND, February 24, 1997 -- BARCO breaks the price/performance barrier with the introduction of the Galaxy stand-alone workstation for high performance ATC applications. The new Galaxy workstation is a multi-configurable integrated system that can interface to single or multiple displays and has the unique capability of being able to execute both powerful X windows and Microsoft windows simultaneously.
Resolution of BARCO’s Galaxy Workstation ranges from 1280 x 1024 to 2048 x 2048 in single-head and dual-head configurations. The Galaxy system features the BARCO Chromatics PCI 4600 single board controller offering 8 planes overlay and 8 planes main double-buffered memory with the 32 MB system memory expandable to 512MB.
The Galaxy workstation supports the Solaris 2.5 UNIX operating system and can be easily integrated in a multi-vendor ATC network environment without modifications to the application software.
ATC application areas for the new BARCO system are targeted towards EnRoute, tower and TRACON controller requirements to ATM supervisor, management and maintenance positions.
