BARCO Premieres MediCal Administrator, Hospital-Wide Image Quality Management Software

With the increasing reliance on softcopy technology, it is clear that diagnostic confidence is directly related to the quality and consistency of the medical display system. MEDICAL® is BARCO's manufacturer-independent software package for checking and, if necessary, correcting the quality and consistency of a display system through calibration. The MEDICAL® software is available in three versions: Pro (conformance and consistency of a single display system), Administrator (hospital-wide image quality management), and Maintenance (advanced functionality of a single display system).

MEDICAL® Administrator
BARCO's MEDICAL® Administrator software keeps the consistency data of every single display system in a central database (based on the QA check of the Pro software). Data from both local and remote reading rooms can be collected. Through the user-friendly webinterface, system administrators and service technicians have access to the consistency data of all displays installed in the facility and know what priority should be given to the maintenance of a certain display system. Moreover, MEDICAL® Administrator also features an automatic alert system: technicians can be notified via email/wap if one of the display systems performs below standards. Adding and removing display systems is done automatically with the setup wizard included in bothMEDICAL® Pro and Maintenance.
MEDICAL® Administrator presents system administrators and service technicians with a unique tool to schedule the maintenance of the display base and reduce their daily workload.

MEDICAL® Pro
To maintain a display system' s conformance and consistency, BARCO has developed the manufacturer-independent MEDICAL® Pro software. This software features an automated QA check, is used for calibrating greyscale and color display systems (from BARCO or any other manufacturer), and adjusting the display function and controlling the display parameters.

MEDICAL® Maintenance
In addition to Administrator and Pro, BARCO's MEDICAL® also features Maintenance software, which allows qualified service technicians access to advanced parameters, such as focus and astigmatism control.
