BARCO Premieres Next Generation of High Resolution PCI Graphics Controllers
MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS, February 17, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems introduces the PCI 4800 single slot, PCI graphics controller at this year’s ATC exhibition in Maastricht. BARCO’s new generation PCI 4800 graphics controller generates high resolution, high performance X-windows graphics, which is ideal for real-time applications such as air traffic control and air defense.
The BARCO PCI 4800 is the only controller available today that will output 2352 x 1764 at 62 Hz or 2048 x 1536 at 80 Hz for the high resolution BARCO Orion landscape display at high refresh rates for optimum viewing. The PCI 4800 also displays 2048 x 2048 resolution for utilization with the Sony DDM display.
The X-windows software of the new PCI 4800 provides the capability to record and playback displayed air traffic and air defense information in real-time, which can be utilized for ATC system safety by providing immediate event analysis and to also support operational training.
Besides host support for Sun UltraSPARC, Pentium PC, and DEC Alpha Stations, BARCO’s PCI 4800 now supports HP Class B and C workstations. Supported operating systems are Sun Solaris, DEC Unix, HPUX, and Windows NT on the Pentium PC.
The PCI 4800 is also integrated into BARCO’s new GALAXY II Series of multi-configurable workstations.
