Barco reinforces leading position in network centric visualization at Infocomm 2005

At Infocomm 2005, Barco will be debuting the latest member of its family of 16:9 HDTV projectors, optimized for use in conference, class and boardrooms. By bundling a user-friendly, intuitive interface with high tech functionality, this networked, multi-window projector sets new standards for virtual collaboration.

The iCon H900 is the latest addition to Barco's suite of HDTV network-centric projection solutions. The 3-panel LCD projector, which will become commercially available in the last quarter of 2005, has a light output of 9000 ANSI lumen. Just like the existing iCon H600, this network-centric projector features a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 on a 16:9 wide canvas.

The iCon H900 received a "Best of InfoComm" award from rAVe.

Equipped with a powerful integrated display server and featuring advanced multi-windowing functionality, the iCon family allows to visualize multiple windows on one large screen. Changes made to a spreadsheet in an office in Europe can be viewed real-time in an office in the US and vice versa. The network-centric projector family is also ready for streaming media, allowing users to stream media video material over the network. Frequently used video material can even be saved on the hard disk of the projector to be retrieved upon demand. The projector further features dual 450W CLP lamps, ensuring uninterrupted performance and eliminating the need to invest in a backup unit. If one lamp fails for any reason, the other lamp will continue operating.

This network-centric approach is also reflected in other Barco solutions on display at Infocomm, including the i70 stand-alone rear-projection display wall (ideal for small to medium sized boardrooms and meeting rooms) and the iQ Pro family of projectors with powerful display server integrated.

Visitors of the Barco booth (#901) are invited to witness the power and ease of use of Barco's network-centric visualization solutions. Through the familiar Windows XP Pro 05 interface, users have easy access to sources and files on the network and can freely position and scale them on the canvas. Linking several network centric Barco display devices to an existing LAN infrastructure allows for multi-site desktop sharing of laptop- and computer images for efficient collaborative meetings, limiting expensive travelling costs. Central management of all networked visualization sites improves support from IT and reduces operation costs. In this way, Barco opens new windows of opportunity for collaborative information display in higher-education classroom environments, briefing rooms, corporate boardrooms, and videoconferencing rooms.
