BARCO Selected by INDRA Sistemas s.a. for Spanish ATC System Upgrades

ATCA, Washington, D.C. - BarcoView has been selected by Indra Sistemas S.A., Spain, to supply ISIS 28" 2K x 2K LCD main displays and TCD 251 Tower Control Displays for several Spanish ATC system upgrades. Within this contract BarcoView will also deliver high-performance PCI Graphics Generators and Radar Scan Converters. Indra Sistemas S.A. will integrate Barco's displays into various configurations of their ATC operator workstations in the approach and En-Route centers of Madrid, Sevilla, Palma, Barcelona and Canarias, as well as the SENASA ATC simulation center in Madrid.
Barco's ISIS 2K x 2K, 28" square flat panel LCD main display has been chosen by Indra Sistemas for its high-performance image quality, its low lifecycle cost (4 shop-replaceable backlight trays considerably reduce console down-time) and because it is fully compatible with the de facto ATC standard 20" x 20" square format. Moreover, the 4 MegaPixel ISIS display can easily be integrated into both new and existing Controller Working Positions. Indra Sistemas S.A. has selected Barco's displays because they are specifically designed for this purpose.Barco's TCD 251 is a compact 20" LCD display for control tower applications and has been selected by AENA (Spanish Civil Aviation Authority). The display's high brightness output (600 cd/m²) and wide dimming range (1000:1) allow an optimal setting, both in bright sun and dark night environments. It features an Automatic Light Control function which guarantees optimum readability at all times. The Barco PVS 5600M and PVS 5611T are single-slot, high-performance PCI graphics generator boards with a display resolution of up to 2048 x 2048 and 32MB of video memory. The architecture of both the PVS 5600M and PVS 5611T provide the capability to support up to three independent 8-bit planes; overlay, underlay and super overlay. The PVS 5611T has a triple cursor feature, an Enhanced Indexed Auxiliary Video Inter (EIAVI), which provides an inter to connect to the Barco RX2000 radar scan converter and a VXbus inter, which provides the ability to bring in camera video data. The RX2000 radar scan converter is a modular single-slot PCI board that is capable of interfacing to any type of radar unit and utilizes dedicated pixel fill hardware to ensure the display of all image elements.Indra Sistemas A.S. will begin receiving deliveries this year with final shipments to be delivered by end 2002.
