BARCO Selected for Grand Opening of Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort

Las Vegas, NV - BARCO was selected to provide high performance display technology for the Grand Opening of Hyatt Hotel Corporation’s first Las Vegas property, Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas Resort. The festivities were held on January 14, 2000. The event included national and worldwide television coverage, celebrity guests, as well as a spectacular video and laser light show. Lasertainment Productions International, based in Minneapolis, produced a dramatic laser show during the opening. The company was also contracted to create a towering 100’ water screen. BARCO provided three, triple-stacked ELM G10 projectors generating 30,000 ANSI lumens for this unique event.
"This truly had to be an electrifying show. Lasertainment and BARCO really had to make this a very spectacular performance and so we did," said Gary Evans, Lasertainment’s VP of Advertising & Special Projects, "We were actually delighted to be a part of this Grand Opening."

BARCO provided three ELM G10 Extreme Light Machine projectors to the Hyatt for the event. The projectors, equipped with high resolution Digital Light Processing ™ (DLP™ ) technology from Texas Instruments, were used to showcase various images throughout the festivities. The three projectors were stacked and their images superimposed to achieve a brilliant 40’ x 30‘ image with an incredible 30,000 ANSI lumens of light.

"We are honored to have been a part of this exciting event," said Steven Barlow, Marketing Manager of BARCO Projection Systems America, "We think people were amazed by the image they saw on this water screen from the BARCO projectors. We think that the image quality and brightness was quite spectacular, especially considering it is projected on a screen of water."

BARCO introduced its high performance, high brightness ELM Series projectors at the INFOCOMM International Trade Show in June of 1999. These projectors combine the state-of-the-art DLP™ (Digital Light Processing) technology from Texas Instruments with BARCO's knowledge in mechanics, optics, and electronics design. The extreme brilliance, exceptional video performance and ease-of-use of BARCO's ELM Series make these projectors brilliant solutions for rental, staging, electronic cinema, and other large venue applications.
