Barco settles patent litigation with Aydin Displays, Inc.
Kuurne, Belgium, 4 June 2009. Barco, N.V. (Nyse Eurnonext Brussels: BAR), together with its U.S. affiliate Barco Federal Systems, LLC, announced today that it has entered into a License Agreement with Aydin Displays Inc., a subsidiary of Video Display Corporation (NASDAQ: VIDE).
On 13 May 2008, Barco filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Aydin Displays, Inc. The case involved two U.S. patents held by Barco pertaining to LCD flicker compensation (“LFC”), U.S. Pat. Nos. 6,909,472 and 6,359,663. The LFC technology in these patents, which was developed by Barco engineers, is important in military applications, particularly sonar. The License Agreement entered into with Aydin Displays, Inc. resolves all active litigation filed and currently pending between the companies in the U.S. District Court of Northern Georgia.
As part of the Agreement, Barco will issue a non-exclusive license to Aydin Displays, Inc. for the use of Barco's patented LFC technology utilized in certain advanced naval and industrial LCD displays. Under the terms of the License Agreement, Aydin is currently the only company worldwide licensed by Barco for utilization of Barco's LFC in advanced LCD displays.
Financial details of the Agreement were not disclosed
