Barco showcases simulation training technology at Special Ops Forces Week
Tampa, FL – At Special Ops Forces week, attendees will learn how Barco visual display systems can increase training efficiency and maximize results.
“We count on our Special Ops Forces to deal with situations like counter-terrorism, facilitating the internal defense of foreign countries, special reconnaissance, and direct action such as prison rescue or compromising essential infrastructures like power plants,” said Steve Detro, Barco Director of Sales and Marketing for Simulation & Training. “Special Ops Forces Week gives Barco the chance to share its state-of-the-art technology and show how it can be applied to training programs to improve the skill and safety of our armed forces.”
This year, Barco highlights their broad range of solutions that support simulation training for Special Operations Forces. Relying on stealth, speed, self-reliance, close teamwork, and highly specialized equipment, U.S. Special Ops Forces require highly specialized training. Barco offers state-of-the-art training systems such as the SEER (Small Environment Enhanced Reality) mini-dome, HALO rear-projected continuous view display system, VCAD (Virtual Collaboration, Analysis and Decision) system, and Barco’s new SIM 5plus projection system – the ultimate projection solution for military maritime, flight, driving, firearms, and air traffic control applications. Also, Barco representatives will be on hand to discuss command & control solutions as well as existing simulator upgrade requirements. Barco offers a broad variety of simulation and command & control systems to maximize performance and minimize life-cycle costs.
The Barco SEER mini-dome display system is Barco’s solution for the ultimate in immersive simulation training. It is a compact and flexible visualization solution that provides constant eye relief over the entire spherical surface, optimizing out-of-window scenes. The spherical shape maintains a constant distance between the user’s eye and the projected simulation, preventing the user’s eyes from having to adjust to geometric changes in the surface area. As a result of these technological advances, users experience full-immersive training at a level not previously possible.
The Barco HALO is a rear-projected, continuous view display system. A simple and cost-effective immersive solution, it’s designed to improve training performance. This solution is powered by a Barco projection system that displays training content onto a unique cylindrical, rear-projection screen, creating a continuous field-of-view. The multi-channel, edge-blended display system eliminates distracting shadows produced in front-projected display systems, as well as view-interrupting bezels typically found in LCD panel systems.
The VCAD is Barco’s revolutionary tool for visualizing and analyzing multi-faceted data. It allows simultaneous collaboration with other sites to assist in the analysis and decision process. Auxiliary information supporting the decision process can also be simultaneously displayed on one of the many system displays. Whether the task at hand involves locating a terrorist network in a city of millions or needing a command and control center for the integration and real-time collaboration of special ops forces, the Barco VCAD system provides a vital catalyst for accurately assessing complex situations and fostering correct decisions in a timely and efficient manner.
The Barco SIM 5plus is a dedicated projection solution for training and simulation. The SIM 5plus is designed to raise training efficiency, lower operation costs, reduce maintenance costs, and it’s an easy upgrade path for existing simulators. The SIM 5plus offers the highest level of near-reality immersive visualization, uniform brightness and contrast through Constant Light Output (CLO), and it has an NVGView add-on that enables users wearing NVG devices to see bright, properly defined targets and images for true training accuracy and realism.
