BARCO Signs Multi-Million Euro Contract with Alenia Marconi Systems Air Traffic Management & Airport Surveillance Division
LE BOURGET, FRANCE - BarcoView has been awarded a significant contract by Alenia Marconi Systems Air Traffic Management & Airport Surveillance Division, to supply Barco digital 2K x 2K ISIS flat panel LCD main displays. Within this contract BarcoView will also deliver high-performance Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) PCI graphics controllers and TCD 251 tower control displays. Alenia Marconi Systems ATMAS Division will integrate Barco's displays into various new programs.
Alenia Marconi Systems ATMAS Division has chosen Barco's ISIS 2K x 2K, 28" square flat panel LCD main display for its high-performance image quality, its low lifecycle cost (4 shop-replaceable backlight trays considerably reduce console down-time) and because it is fully compatible with the de facto standard square format 20" x 20". Moreover, the 4 megapixel ISIS display can easily be integrated into both new and existing ATC workstations.The Barco PVS 5600M is a single-slot, high-performance PCI graphics controller board with a display resolution of up to 2048 x 2048 and 32Mb of video memory. The architecture of the PVS 5600M provides the capability to support up to three independent 8-bit planes: overlay, underlay and super overlay.Barco's TCD 251 is a compact 21" LCD display for control tower applications. The display's extremely high brightness output (600 Nit) and wide dimming range (1000:1) allow an optimal setting, both in bright sun and dark night environments. It features an Automatic Light Control function which guarantees optimum readability at all times.Alenia Marconi Systems ATMAS Division will begin receiving deliveries July 2001 with final shipments to be delivered by December 2002.
