Barco takes centre stage in Belgian pavilion at World Expo 2005 in Japan
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM, 24 June 2004. Barco is pleased to announce that its high-end visualization solutions will play a crucial role in enhancing the visitor’s experience in the Belgian pavilion at the World Expo 2005 in Aichi, Japan. The exhibition will showcase Barco’s projection and immersive visualization solutions and strengthen its reputation as a global provider of advanced visualization solutions.
More than 125 countries will be participating in next year’s World Exposition, in Aichi, Japan, from 25 March until 25 September, with more than 15 million people expected to visit. Under the theme ‘Nature’s wisdom’, the Expo will promote sustainable coexistence of nature and humanity by stimulating discussion and action, and by exploring new and better modes of living. Just like previous World Expos in Lisbon and Hannover, many pavilions will be relying on Barco’s visualization equipment to present visitors with a memorable experience. Also in the Belgian pavilion in Aichi, Barco’s equipment will be prominently used to immerse visitors and offer entertainment full of surprises and excitement.
Belgium’s strong presence at the World Expo stresses the close cultural and economic relationship between Belgium and Japan. The country is one of Barco’s key markets, and the company has offices in Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya. Barco’s list of references in Japan is growing quickly and includes LED screens for the Tokyo carshow, projection solutions for the Maya exhibition, Virtual Reality theatre at the National Museum, Master control rooms for digital broadcasting solutions throughout Japan, LED solutions for Fuji TV, CAD walls for the Japanese automotive market, medical imaging solutions for major hospitals.

Equipment to be used in the Belgian pavilion includes the SLM R12+ Performer that will display paintings of leading Belgian artists like Van Eyck, Magritte and Delvaux, the Magic-Y projection table offering an interactive experience, the BarcoReality SIM6 projectors to create an immersive 270° experience; and the iQ Pro projector to be used in the business lounge.
