Barco teams up with Creative Technology to create immersive 360° experience at CES

The 2006 Consumer Electronics Show set record numbers with 2,500 exhibitors introducing thousands of new products and technologies to over 150,000 attendees from 110 countries.  Creative Technology was chosen to provide audio visual support and technical services to some of the best-known names in the electronics industry.  Intel, DirectTV, Motorola, Sony, Seagate, Broadcom, TIVO, Jabra, DIVX and the Monster Cable Awards all relied on the staging support of Creative Technology to attract attendees through creative uses of Barco’s display technology.

Intel took a leap forward by combining traditional technology with the more creative displays.  Over 260 tiles of Barco’s ILite 6 XP and ILite 10 LED displays were utilized in the Central Hub and Grand Lobby while 1,500 MiSPHERE units hung from the booth’s ceiling, flashing colors in sync with images on various plasma displays. 

MiSPHERE opens the door to new and innovative LED display solutions. One MiSPHERE unit consists of 4 full color, high performance LEDs that reside inside an opaque, light-defusing capsule. With 360-degree viewing angles, and the ability to play both full video & data, MiSPHERE bridges the gap between existing video and lighting products. Individual MiSPHEREs are daisy-chained in a string, with several strings, in turn, forming a 3-D visualization curtain.
