"DLP™ Technology was our only choice for the Academy Awards due to the brightness and high resolution we needed for one of the movie industry’s biggest events. BARCO’s ELM R12 provides the DLP™ technology and a very bright image that is necessary for this event. The audience in the Shrine Auditorium and the television audience will see the best images possible," said Seligman, "DLP™ technology is the future."
BARCO will provide five ELM R12 Extreme Light Machine projectors to the Academy Awards for the event. The projectors, equipped with high resolution Digital Light Processingä (DLP™) technology from Texas Instruments, will be used on the main stage screen, as well as two additional side stage screens. "We are honored to have been chosen to provide projection systems for this prestigious engagement" said Steven Barlow, Marketing Manager for BARCO Projection Systems America. "We are confident that the audience in the Shrine Auditorium and the millions of viewers across America will be impressed with the rich image quality delivered by our ELM Series projectors."

The projectors combine the state-of-the-art DLP™ (Digital Light Processing) technology from Texas Instruments with BARCO's knowledge in mechanics, optics, and electronics design. The extreme brilliance, exceptional video performance and ease-of-use of BARCO's ELM Series make these projectors brilliant solutions for rental, staging, electronic cinema, and other large venue applications.
