BARCO’s Displays Selected for Russian ATC En Route Center Upgrade
MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS, February 23, 1999 -- BARCO Display Systems announces, at the ATC’99 exhibition, that it was selected by Indra in Spain to provide high resolution 29” color displays for the upgrade of the Rostov-on-Don air traffic control en route center in Russia. BARCO will provide twenty-two Orion 16 color monitors to Indra for the retrofit of the dual head controller working positions.
The BARCO Orion 16 is a multi-sync large screen display offering an addressable resolution of up to 1600 x 1200. The Orion 16 features BARCO’s own design of an 8-pole yoke on the 29” CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) enabling the full control of all display parameters (focus, convergence,…). This results in an optimal picture performance over the entire screen area. The Orion 16 has an Ambient Light Control feature, which automatically adapts the monitor brightness settings to changing light conditions. It also includes an orbiting function, which slowly shifts the displayed data periodically, to minimize the phosphor burn-in of the CRT, thus increasing the lifetime of the monitor.
In 1998, BARCO supplied one Orion display to Indra for installation into a single working position for the first phase of the Rostov-on-Don upgrade. For this second phase, Indra will accept delivery of all 22 BARCO Orion displays in early 1999 to complete the modernization plan of the Rostov-on-Don center by the end of the 2nd quarter of 1999.
