BARCO’s GALAXY II Series Provides Total ATC Workstation Solutions

MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS, February 17, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems announces the GALAXY II Series, which is the next generation of multi-configurable standalone graphics workstations for high performance air traffic management applications. For air and vessel traffic control systems requiring high-resolution video output capability, the new GALAXY II workstations can be configured with the new BARCO SRC 1000 PCI-based high performance radar scan converter.
The GALAXY II Series are integrated systems, which can interface to single or multiple monitors, and which have the unique capability of being able to execute Windows NT and UNIX graphics applications requiring high resolution video output. Resolutions of BARCO’s GALAXY II Series range from 1280 x 1024 to 2048 x 2048 or 2352 x 1764 in single-head and dual-head configurations, and they are fully compatible with BARCO’s Orion high resolution displays and with the Sony DDM display.

The GALAXY II Workstation is completely based on open industry standards, and can be easily integrated in a multi-vendor ATC Network environment without modifications to the application software.

ATC application areas for the GALAXY II workstations are targeted towards EnRoute, tower, and TRACON controller requirements to ATM supervisor, controller and maintenance positions.
