BARCO’s PCI Graphics Controllers Selected for German ATC Upgrade

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ, USA, 2 November, 1998 -- BARCO Display Systems has been selected by Raytheon Systems Company, Fullerton, California, to supply 32 high resolution 2K x 2K PCI graphics controllers for the Deutsche Flugsicherung (DFS) air traffic control system upgrade in Germany.
The DFS is the German equivalent to the U.S. Federal Aviation Agency. Raytheon will integrate BARCO’s PCI 4700 controller with the Hewlett Packard HP B-180 workstation and the Sony DDM 2K x 2K display providing the DFS with an extremely high-performance, cost-effective air traffic management system solution.

The BARCO PCI 4700 is a powerful 2048 x 2048 single board PCI graphics controller with extensive X-window software support, which provides the capability to record and playback air traffic information in real time, enhancing system safety by providing immediate event analysis. The PCI graphics drawing acceleration capability increases the graphics performance, which is very critical for time-symbolism information applications such as air traffic control. The BARCO PCI 4700 controller was also chosen for the Canadian CAATS and MAATS ATC programs.

Raytheon has accepted complete delivery of all 32 BARCO PCI controllers and is currently in the process of integrating them into the DFS ATC system configuration.
