BARCO’s PCI Graphics Controllers Selected for Korean Air Traffic Center System
MAASTRICHT, THE NETHERLANDS, February 23, 1999 -- BARCO Display Systems was selected by Lockheed Martin Air Traffic Management, Rockville, Maryland to supply 22 high performance 2K x 2K PCI 4800 graphics controllers for the Korean Area Control Center (KACC) system, which will be installed at the new airport in Inchon, Korea. The new ACC is scheduled to be operational in the year 2001 and will control the upper air space in Korea for the Korean Flight Information Region and also interface with other international Area Control Centers and Terminal Control Centers in Korea.
BARCO’s PCI 4800 controller combined with the DEC 255 Alpha Station and Sony 2K display, will be integrated into a new air traffic management system based on Lockheed Martin’s Skyline family of ATC systems. This very advanced, state-of-the-art Korean ACC system will include proven radar data processing with multi-sensor tracking; state-of-the-art flight data processing; human-computer interface tools that provide a rich set of graphical windows tailored to simplify controller monitoring and tasks, and data preparation with a fully graphical adaptation tool.
The PCI 4800 is a powerful 2048 x 2048 single board PCI graphics controller with extensive X-window software support, which provides the capability to record and playback air traffic information in real time, enhancing system safety by providing immediate event analysis. The PCI graphic drawing acceleration capability increases the graphics performance, which is very critical for time-symbology information applications such as air traffic control.
Lockheed Martin has received complete delivery of all 22 BARCO PCI controllers and is currently in the process of integrating them into the new Korean ACC system.
