Barco's production unit for avionics displays meets EASA Part 21 regulations

KORTRIJK, Belgium, 12 October 2005 – Visualization specialist Barco is pleased to announce that its Avionics business unit has obtained Part 21 Production Organization Approval (POA) under EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) regulations. The approval endorses Barco’s compliance with the latest European regulations necessary to provide fully certified, airworthy products to the civil aviation industry. Barco is the first company in Belgium whose production organization is approved according to Part 21.

“We are confident that our early compliance with Part 21 regulations will further smoothen our growth path in the civil aviation business,” says Guy Putman, General Manager of Barco's Avionics business unit. “Not only does it underline our commitment to quality, it also sharpens our competitive edge on the worldwide civil aeronautical market,” he adds.

The new Part 21 Production Organization Approval has been issued by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to replace the previous JAR 21 and various national regulations. As such, it acts as the European counterpart of the US Code of Federal Regulations Title 14 Part 21 Production certificates.
