BarcoView Signs Multi-Million US Dollar Contract with Eurocopter for French-German Tiger Helicopters
KORTRIJK, BELGIUM - BarcoView has been awarded a series contract by Eurocopter, Marignane, France, for the delivery of 320 CDMS (Control Display and Management System) to be integrated into its French-German Tiger Helicopters.
Barco's Control Display and Management System (CDMS, also called CDU by Eurocopter) is chosen for the series production of the Tiger helicopter because of its excellent sun-light readability and its high optical performance in life critical and demanding aerospace applications.Barco's CDMS is a compact, light-weight Control Display and Management System with a sunlight-readable 3" x 4" full Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD). This technology provides high brightness, excellent contrast and reduced volume with low power consumption. The CDMS is designed with passive and forced air cooling, giving it high reliability and maintaining low life cycle cost, even in harsh operating environments.BarcoView and Eurocopter have recently signed a framework agreement, which also covers this specific CDMS Tiger contract. This stresses the wish of both companies to establish a close and constructive cooperation on a long-term basis.Eurocopter will begin receiving deliveries of Barco's CDMS in August 2001 with final shipments to be delivered by end 2011. Additional Tiger export contracts are to be expected in the future.
