City of Boca Raton: leading with Barco's ultimate digital monitoring solution
Atlanta, GA - The Municipal Services Department of the City of Boca Raton, Florida, has proven to be a technology leader with Barco's first end-to-end digital video monitoring solution. The City of Boca Raton realized that, even though video transmission from the field to the control center is typically digital, up to recently, viewing the video streams on a display wall or monitor rack always required a conversion back to analog. Barco and Audio Visual Innovations are pleased to have implemented direct streaming video insertion into the Barco Argus controller, driving the 2x2 Barco OverView mDG50 50" DLPTM XGA display wall.
The City of Boca Raton has currently deployed 15 PTZ video monitoring cameras and 15 video detection cameras along the network, with the signal system. In the future, Variable Message Signs and linkage to adjacent counties will be implemented. The City of Boca Raton transmits MPEG2 video data with a total delay of 1 to 2 seconds only.
"We wanted our investment to be state-of-the-art and as open and flexible as possible", says Robert J. DiChristopher, Municipal Services Director, "The Barco Argus allowed us to reduce our equipment costs".
Robert Wu, Market Development Manager for Barco, says "The Barco Streaming Video Card inside Argus is able to decode standard MPEG2 streams from different encoder suppliers. It allows reducing your decoder investments and in most cases matrix-switch requirements, thus creating large savings and cabling simplicity".
