Leading knitting companies place orders for Barco's textile production management system
Barco recently received orders from Pacific Fabrics (Panyu – Guangdong Province / PRC) and Elcatex (Choloma-Cortes /Honduras) for its KNITMASTER production management system. Both customers are leading manufacturers of knitted fabrics and have several hundred circular knitting machines, which will be connected to their KNITMASTER system.
Each knitting machine will be equipped with a DU8P wireless data unit for the capture of production data such as machine speed, machine stops and manual declared stop reasons. The collected data are transmitted to the central PC server via Bluetooth wireless technology, with a network of WDL-server data access points installed in the production halls and connected to the mills local area network (LAN).
The DU8P data unit offers a typical set of features for knitting. Oiling cycle data can be downloaded to activate the oiling following certain logical patterns. The target doffing length is downloaded and when the target is reached, the knitting machine is stopped and flagged. The yarn rate is also monitored based on yarn consumption data provided by the machine.
The KNITMASTER software offers a production module, which enables follow-up on the productivity of machines and operators. The planning module allows scheduling of the manufacturing orders linked with the companies ERP system. The user interface is presented in the native language of the country. For these latest projects, Spanish and Chinese (both traditional and simplified) character interfaces will be delivered.
In addition to the connection of the circular knitting machines, one of the systems will also monitor a number of warp knitting machines and the other customer will also connect a number of flat bed knitting machines.
These two new references confirm that knitters around the world become more and more aware of the necessity of improved planning, efficiency and quality monitoring.
