Selex Sistemi Integrati selects Barco’s arrival and departure management software for New Doha International Airport, Qatar
Kortrijk, Belgium, 8 March 2011. Visualization pioneer Barco is proud to announce that its arrival and departure manager software has been selected by Selex Sistemi Integrati for the New Doha International Airport in Qatar. Scheduled to open in 2012, this new airport will be a major international gateway for the entire Middle East, using only the most advanced technologies.
The New Doha International Airport (NDIA) has been designed to handle the extremely rapid growth in passenger levels and will accommodate all of Qatar's aviation needs for the coming decades. With this new facility – a 22 square kilometer development – the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority aims to set a new standard in airport and airline efficiency, service and passenger convenience. Selex Sistemi Integrati, an Italian provider of integrated air traffic management systems, selected Barco's arrival and departure management software to be integrated into its ATM automation system.

Barco's arrival and departure management software has been designed to support controllers in meeting the increasingly demanding requirements for safety and efficiency of traffic flow. By optimizing traffic flow, the Arrival Manager increases airport capacity and reduces the controllers' workload. It helps make optimal use of available resources, increase efficiency of flight operations for the airlines, and improve flight profiles and avoid holding patterns, thus reducing ecological problems like pollution and noise. The Departure Manager supports air traffic controllers in optimizing departure sequence based on selectable planning and optimization strategies.
