University of Iowa Selects Barco Simulation
Xenia, Ohio – Barco Simulation, a world leader in high-performance visual display products, technology and solutions for simulation, has been selected by the University of Iowa to deliver and install a new visual projection system for the National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS) facility in Iowa City, Iowa.
Barco Simulation will deliver a complete system based on Barco’s state of the art technology and proven projection and technology platform. The visual display solution includes the SIM 6 projectors integrated with WARP6 advanced geometry distortion and will be complemented with Barco’s “support technology”.
To optimize the visual system maintainability and enhance performance, Barco Simulation will also supply its X-RACUTM control system. The X-RACU provides access for the control of up to 32 projectors and their system diagnostics with added features such as Image Generator communication and control. The product’s easy-to-use menu enables an efficient use of its features and improves performance of the maintenance tasks of the system.
In addition, Barco will also install its Auto Alignment system to provide increased simulator use time and raise the system’s daily performance standards. The Auto Alignment computer-controlled system enables two different levels of alignments that are performed in significantly less time than traditional methods. In addition, these alignments are achieved with a very high level of accuracy and consistency.
