Barco proudly unveils its new demo center today before an array of special guests who will experience the full array of simulation and training solutons at the grand opening in Xenia, Ohio. The event provides the ideal stage for Barco and projectiondesign who recently joined forces to create the most comprehensive portfolio of high-fidelity simulation projectors, visual display systems, and proprietary software solutions.

From 23 to 25 April last, Kino 2013 attracted exhibitors, distributors and service providers from across Europe to Baden-Baden, Germany, for a three-day immersion into the world of cinema anno 2013. While Barco’s digital cinema solutions were showcased at partner booths, Marc Aarts, Barco’s sales director DC Western Europe, and Wilfried van Baelen, CEO Galaxy Studios, participated in well-attended panel discussions. “Our participation was most interesting,” Marc Aarts concluded.

During the third edition of the DNA.italia conference last week in Turin, projectiondesign and 3D experts NoReal.it invited professionals from Italy’s cultural sector for a realistic visit to these cultural highlights. The brightness, contrast and wide viewing angle of the F35 projector were just perfect to bring the baffling 3D content from NoReal.it to life.

Our compact DP2K-10Sx, which was specially designed with smaller theaters and arthouse- and independent cinemas in mind, had its first intensive live test at the 2013 Berlin International Film Festival. It did such a great job there that we wanted to capture the story of the DP2K-10Sx at the Berlinale in a must-see video.

In line with its new partnership strategy, Barco has recently closed a strategic partnership agreement with the French company Immersion. A European expert in immersive and collaborative 3D innovative technologies, Immersion is the first European partner in the VR field to join Barco’s partner network.

Barco’s event projectors can be used in all kinds of shows and set-ups. During the annual award ceremony for the Foot Locker Europe Management team, four RLM-W8 projectors were used for floor projection - a unique set-up by Barco rental partner ACS audiovisual solutions. The RLM-W8 projectors worked alongside two ultra-bright HDF-W26 and three more RLM projectors to create an amazing show at the Nieuwegein Business Center (the Netherlands), on 28 February last.

Easy and clear data visualization is essential to Tecgraf, the Computer Graphics Research and Development Lab of the PUC-Rio University (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). To gain thorough insights into various computer graphics, it installed a three-sided iSpace featuring three Barco Galaxy NH-12 projectors and one ultra-high resolution LX-5 projector.

Today, Dutch company COVRA screened a film about its activities and services in its very own refurbished 3D movie theatre. Barco’s RLM-W6 projectors were relied on to project the video onto the theatre’s special screen.

Today, we've launched our brand-new 4K projector for postproduction, archiving, restoration and 4K color grading. Featuring a greatly expanded color gamut, higher contrast and superior color uniformity in comparison with standard digital cinema projectors, the DP4K-P is designed to meet the specific demands of the postproduction industry. It comes with some purpose-designed components such as a 4K input board and a high-contrast lens.

After a ten-day roller coaster of screenings, press conferences, award ceremonies and parties, the curtain fell over the 63rd Berlinale last Sunday. As the film festival organization can look back on a successful event - a total of some 300,000 tickets were sold –, Barco is happy too: all its projectors used for the screenings did a great job. Not in the least the new compact DP2K-10Sx projector that was set up at the Berlinale`s small cinema theaters.
