MVI-MultiVision Inc. has some great news for its customers – because now they are the first video display supplier in Canada to offer a 40,000 lumen projector for large, staged events and outdoor video mapping. A full service audio visual firm specializing in indoor/outdoor large screen video displays, MVI chose Barco when it came time to expand into the projection business. “Not only do we now offer the brightest rental projector in the world, but because of the HDQ-2K40’s light-on-demand technology, we can fulfill a variety of event needs with a more streamlined inventory,” comments Christopher Parry, Vice President of MVI-MultiVision Inc.

Last week’s release of Peter Jackson’s ‘The Hobbit’ must have been one of the most talked-about film premières of the past few months. Yet the talk is about more than the story itself. Most of the buzz around the film, in fact, stems from the fact that it was shot, and is being shown, in high frame rate (HFR), i.e. with a rate of 48 frames per second. Barco’s Series II projectors have been ready to display HFR images for over a year now. So our customers were all geared up for the long-awaited release on 12.12.12.

The magazine dedicated a long article, including many great photos, to all the Barco solutions on display.

Steen Iverson, founder of Sirius 3D, is the man behind the impressive 3D digital dome system at Copenhagen’s Tycho Brahe Planetarium, which is powered by Barco projectors. Since the installation of the system in 2006, Iverson has become renowned worldwide as one of the industry’s leading digital dome experts. He will now put his expertise and experience to work for IMAX`s Digital Dome Project.

All eyes have been on Oslo, over the past two days, where the European Union received this year’s Nobel Peace Prize. In tribute of the winner, around 7,000 people gathered at the Oslo Spektrum Arena on 11 December, for the glamorous Nobel Peace Prize Concert. Featuring a multitude of famous artists from around the world, the concert moves boundaries, year after year, to create a wonderful show. Six Barco HDX-W18 projectors, eight RLM-W8 and 100 Versa®TUBEs, installed by AVAB CAC Oslo, helped ensure the success of this year’s edition, which was broadcast to over 100 countries.

Yesterday, 11 December, UK professionals from the rental and staging market discovered the benefits of Barco’s HD and RLM projectors, its image processing range and the ClickShare meeting room presentation system in an exclusive décor: the Lecture Theater at the British Museum. Barco is welcome to use the Museum’s infrastructure for hosting events, thanks to a recently established partnership.

On 5 and 6 December last, Barco partner Mediatec invited its Swedish customers and prospects for a deep dive into its large stock of audiovisual solutions. As a leader in event and television production projects, Mediatec has been working together with Barco for many years now. The Open House was the ideal occasion to show the latest Barco projectors, LED screens, etc. at work. Eye-catchers included the new top-of-range, high brightness HDQ-2K40 and HD FLEX projectors, the C5 LED tiles and the new active 3D option for event projectors as well as the PDS switcher, and, last but not least, Barco’s new ClickShare solution. Multiple units of the groundbreaking meeting room presentation system were sold during the Open House.

For the second year in a row, Barco partner Houben Mediaverhuur (the Netherlands) has recently taken the lead in an impressive projection mapping project in the Dutch city of Maastricht. Three of Barco’s new HDQ-2K40 projectors depicted the history of the city on its town hall. “The brightness of the projectors is really spectacular, under all conditions,” said project manager Roger Ronda.

On 28 and 29 November last, Questek Advanced Technologies (South Africa) welcomed rental and staging experts to discover BRIGHT IDEAS during the Questek Open Days. In a two-hour session, the AV solution provider demonstrated how Barco’s high-brightness projectors - including the new HDX-W18 -, image processors, switchers as well as LED solutions can add a ‘wow’ factor to any event.

ClickShare has enjoyed the attention of a very high-level audience, over the past two days. As a sponsor of the CxO Leadership Forum on 3 and 4 December last, Barco showcased its one-click wonder presentation system during the interactive sessions for 193 of Belgium’s leading corporate officers. The congress room further featured a Barco RLM-W8 projector. Dirk Hendricks, Sales Vice-President LA-EMEA, was one of the speakers at the event.
